A Canadian teenager has been found safe two days after she went missing in the wilderness of Golden Ears Park, one of the largest parks in British Columbia.

Esther Wang, a 16-year-old hiker, was separated from her group in the sprawling 555-square-kilometre (214-square-mile)park, prompting an extensive search operation.

Authorities launched a massive 54-hour search, employing a helicopter, a drone, and 16 search teams to locate the missing teenager.

Local media reports indicate that the group left a lookout point at approximately 2:45pm on Tuesday 27th June and realised Esther was missing about 15 minutes later, prompting the group leader to return to the lookout but failing to locate her.

The alarm was raised, leading to the immediate initiation of the search operation.

Esther then emerged from the East Canyon trail, the same trail on which she initially went missing and was met by emergency services at around 9:30 PM on Thursday.

It is unclear how Esther became separated from her group.
