A stabbing attack at a kindergarten in China’s south-eastern province of Guangdong on Monday 10th July 2023 left six people dead and one injured.

The victims included a teacher, two parents, and three students. The suspect, a 25-year-old man surnamed Wu, was arrested from Lianjiang.

The attack took place at 7:40am local time as parents were dropping their children off for summer classes in the downtown area of Hengshan township.

The motive for the attack is still under investigation. However, some reports have suggested that the suspect’s child had been struck by the car of one of the people who was killed at the school in an earlier incident.

The attack has sparked an outpouring of concern about violence against children at school in China. In recent years, there have been a number of high-profile cases of children being killed or injured in attacks at schools.

The government has taken steps to address the issue, including increasing security at schools and providing more mental health resources for students and teachers.

The names of the victims have not been released. The suspect is being held in custody and is not cooperating with the investigation.

The police are still searching for a motive for the attack.
