A chemistry student at a US university tried to poison his roommate over a period of several months.
He admits buying thallium but claims it was for his own, personal use. He is also accused of writing racist graffiti.
The victim was left feeling dizzy, passing out, throwing up and feeling shaky, however his lawyer says he was as dumbfounded as everyone else, because he believed that he had a cordial relationship with the accused.
