Grocery worker’s body found in shop where he worked after 10-year search

Police say the body of a man who went missing in 2009 has been discovered behind a freezer in the now-closed supermarket where he worked.

Investigators in Council Bluffs, Iowa, released a statement on Monday 22nd July that Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada, 25, had apparently fallen into an 18-inch (45cm) gap at No Frills supermarket.

He is thought to have fallen between the back of the cooler and a wall, where he became trapped. Noise from the coolers’ compressors may have concealed any attempts to call for help, according to Council Bluffs Police Capt. Todd Weddum.

No foul play was detected and his death was ruled to be accidental.

His body was discovered in January at the store less than a mile from where he lived but was so badly decomposed that he was not positively identified until last week after a post-mortem examination was conducted.
