Man arrested live on TV when his toddler was filmed waving a gun

A man was arrested on live TV in the US state of Indiana after his four-year-old son was seen waving a gun.

Shane Osborne, 45, was charged with neglect after neighbours reported a child in a hallway carrying what they believed to be a handgun, police said.

The arrest was filmed on the TV show On Patrol: Live on Saturday, January 14th 2023 which aired surveillance video apparently showing the boy playing with the gun and even pulling the trigger.

Nicole Summers, a neighbour, informed local station WTHR that she contacted the police after the boy approached her door and aimed a pistol at her son.

Mr Osborne initially denied the presence of any weapons in the house and claimed to have been feeling ill and sleeping all day. However, a neighbour provided surveillance footage showing the child in the hallway with the gun.

The police subsequently found the firearm in Mr Osborne’s apartment and made the arrest.

A 9mm gun found at the scene had 15 rounds in the magazine, but no rounds in the gun’s chamber, a report said.
