A British woman who died in a holiday car crash in Crete on Monday 8th July was a convicted murderer who turned her life around to become a well-respected entrepreneur.
Zara Crane Davies, 40, from Manchester, died alongside 18-year-old Luke Hall when the 4×4 she was driving overturned in Malia on the Greek island. A third person in the vehicle is now fighting for her life in hospital.
Zara was awarded Mentor of the Year 2018 at the Northern Power Women Awards for her work helping former inmates when they leave prison.
Her experience in that field came from when she was in prison herself. She had devoted herself to the cause since serving a life sentence for murder and finding it hard to integrate back into society.
In the summer of 2003, Zara lived in South London, when she got involved in a row with her neighbour, David Thompson, and fatally stabbed him. She was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum tariff of 12 years.
