29 bodies discovered in mass grave near Guadalajara

At least 29 bodies were discovered in a mass grave outside the western Mexican city of Guadalajara on 14th January 2020. The find was made close to two more shallow graves where 81 bodies were discovered in November 2019.

Four of the 29 bodies have been identified so far, according to officials, and they are people who had previously been reported missing. The remaining bodies are still undergoing forensic examinations.

Following a routine patrol of the area, members of the Mexican National Guard spotted armed men outside the warehouse in nearby Toluquilla on 6th November 2019.

Eight people were discovered being held captive by the gunmen during the raid, along with a large stockpile of weapons.

Fifteen people were arrested, including three juveniles. Information collected from the arrested people led to the discovery of the three graves at a local farm.
