A man in Colorado was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after he tried to switch places with his dog to avoid arrest after being pulled over for speeding.
The man was pulled over by police in Springfield, Colorado, on Saturday 13th May 2023 for speeding at 52mph (84km/h) in a 30mph zone.
The officer who pulled him over saw the man manoeuvring inside the car before he got out on the passenger side. The man then claimed that he was not the driver and ran away from the officer when he was asked about how much he had had to drink.
The officer caught the man within about 20 yards (18 meters).
The man was taken to the hospital to be assessed and was then arrested. He was also found to have previous warrants for his arrest.
