A Kenyan security guard fell from the 8th floor of Qatar’s Lusail Stadium and died in hospital after the FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Argentina and the Netherlands.
The World Cup organising body told 24-year-old John Njau Kibue’s family on Saturday 10th December 2022 that he had died after three days in intensive care. They stated that an inquest into the circumstances surrounding his fall would be carried out “as a matter of urgency”.
According to a medical record obtained by CNN, he was admitted to Doha’s Hamad General Hospital Intensive Care Unit and had suffered “severe head injury, facial fractures and pelvic fractures.”
